9 ways to magically improve your English speaking skills (without any books).

English speaking skills

English speaking has become an important part of our daily lives. From office conversations to the most famous podcasts, the majority are in English. So, if you wish to improve your English speech and skills, here are 9 unique ways to do so.

Turn on the subtitles

Put your love for movies and shows to good use and improve your English speaking with their help. Turn on the subtitles for the movie you see and try to read and speak along with the character.

Sing along and karaoke

Just like movie subtitles, Karaokes are perfect for learning the rhythm and style of English songs. Sing along with your favourite artist and try to mimic their pronunciation to sound more natural.

Talk to yourself

If you are scared of talking to others in English, or fear the crowd because of your diction, try talking to yourself. Describe what you’re doing, talk about how your day was, what could have been different or better, and the likes.

Improve by recording yourself

When you talk to yourself, and talk about your day, record yourself doing it. Make sure to speak in English, maintain a flow, and don’t stress yourself out too much. And then as you hear back the recording, you will be able to check where you went wrong and improve next time.

Now, hold conversations with friends

Once you feel you are more comfortable and confident in your speech, talk to a close friend and maintain the same proficiency

Practice tongue twisters

The tongue twisters we were so fond of as kids are actually great ways to improve speech. Simple tongue twisters like ‘Bory was a big bear’ or ‘Betty bought some butter’ can help you have a hold of your speech.

Tune in to news channels

Another way to perfect the speech is by tuning in to news channels and hearing native speakers and anchors. Whatever accent you would like to learn, tune into their news channel and then mimic the way they speak.

Add more English to your daily conversations

Another way to improve your speaking skills is by making it a part of your everyday life. It needs to come from within you and only then will the change happen. Turn your conversations to English, hear English songs, write posts in English, etc.

Games and apps

There are plenty of language-learning apps that make practicing English fun through games and challenges. There are so many apps that allow you to play with words and phrases, improving your vocabulary and grammar without feeling like you’re studying.
